Mad Men - S03 E 03 - Pete and Trudy Dancing Charleston
Maybe it's just me but I wouldnt take a drink from a stranger who touched the sugar, cherries, and ice in the drink with their bare fingers
Bauch Prairie
I love Kartheiser. And what a great dancer he is!
And that, is Conrad Hilton lol
The clear and crisp sound effects made this scene
What a revolting way to make an Old Fashioned. It has about as much seltzer water as a High Ball.
I noticed when I was a kid that I hate weddings, too. Not the people who work during them, you do what you have to, but the people they're for. The people putting on a show of just how much they want you to see them. The actual ceremony takes minutes, the state changes your status so they can take more of your money and then you spend all day drifting between people you barely like under necessary circumstances, everyone trying to get drunk or leave. Even funerals are better.
Unless they are close friend or close family, I'm with you, they suck. Especially the over the top displays of wealth, man eff that.
Looks like a garbage old fashioned. The bourbon has been sitting in ice. It doesn't need more water. Muddled fruit is gross too. I want to taste the bourbon and bitters.
Conrad Hilton is America condensed into one person. Born in New Mexico in 1877; right at the peak of the Wild West & he died having built a global hotel empire. Talk about witnessing the birth of a superpower.
Hilton was born in 1887 and not 1877.
Jon Hamm come out
Pete Campbell may have been a worm but there's something there I find alluring......
The old fashioned is one disgusting drink. I tried it twice because movies always glamorize it. It does not taste good.
Watched this years ago to learn how to make Old Fashioneds
OLD OVERHOLT
Every time i have an Old Fashioned i feel like Don Draper.
Pro tip Don: Don't muddle the sugar cube. Use a little bit of the soda water and it'll dissolve right quick.
Club soda in an old fashioned?
I love an Old Fashioned. And an Old Fashioned does not have club soda in it.
Chelcie is just pure class. Always love when he’s in the cast
Up your butt, Jobu
I admire how he not only made himself a drink, but he also made one for the bartender. I respect a person who shows an appreciation to minimum wage workers
that guy is Conrad Hilton a guest at the wedding. The scene is very confusing.
@@rtyughvbn12 I don't know, it seemed pretty clear that he was a wedding guest, not a bartender
Lame
“Who are you hiding from?”
A day at the office for these guys was like 4 of my saturday nights rolled into one day lol.
That is the best line I have read in a long time
I was drinking Old-Fashioneds in the 90s onward before they came surging back in popularity. Went to bartending school and worked in 3 different places: night club, piano bar (quiet most nights with weekend show tunes singalongs) and an upscale restaurant. Rye is what you want but sometimes a sweeter profile suits me just fine like Makers with a splash of 7 vs club and extra bitters. Dont forget to flame the orange peel and break out the Luxardo.
"Dont forget to flame the orange peel" That's very gay.
"I don't like you like this" Pete's line there is cold as ice. Her wiping away tears was so well done. At first it feels kinda pathetic on Pete's part; I recall having these feelings when I was insecure in my youth as my girlfriends would have fun and engage in the party, etc. It was a side of her I hadn't seen and it intimidated my masculinity and made me pity her from a place of ego. But somehow, for some reason, I don't think Pete is insecure. He just looks disappointed... almost like he's aware of his own shortcomings at this point but accepts them and shuts out the rest of the world. That self acceptance angle sorta makes this a badass line. It seems like she's rejecting him. But to be fair, he rejects her first and does so several times since their first night. Peggy shoots him down the hardest though later when she informs him about the kid. Though, I would argue Pete was just lapsing back to familiar ground after several failures in his own life (as us guys like to do sadly).
How do you not dance with Elizabeth Moss??? I can't understand 😢
"WHORE" -pete prolly
The writing, the acting, the settings. #1 The Sopranos. Tie for #2. Breaking Bad and Mad Men.
Agreed
"It's different inside."
proves to be true time and time again...
Chelcie Ross, a very fine character actor.
did he put club soda in it?
What did he say he didn't like ? I can't grasp it.
Pete is such a complex character that you can go from hating him (Like here in this scene) to feeling sorry for him (Crying in front of Don on the elevator).
Yep! I so empathized with him on S5
I became love Pete so much after finish the show. He is special
Joan is such a beaut❤️
I absolutely loved "Mad Men" but it's not believable that Don Draper would not have recognized Conrad Hilton. The man was always in the press. There were photos of him in the newspapers and magazines constantly, and Don stayed abreast of the news.
Might have something to do with the fact he mistook him for the bartender at first. That first impression creates a powerful bias that might be hard to shake.
it's one thing to see a photo of somebody in the paper, but in real life, they always look different. Not many people recognized the Queen of England when they passed her on the trail near Balmoral (setting plays a big part in it too). And lot of celebrities have stories about how people come up to them and say "You look just like 'X', has anyone ever told you that?" even though they are 'X'.
@@andrewpodolio59 if you worked in campaigns for political parties and royal families you would recognize the queen. Don is in advertising, he would know Hilton.
@@ndantona92 thats why when they met again and he finally realized it was Hilton, Don said "I really should have known that." But Connie said, 'ah, I don't know. Now, after this comes out next week," holding a mock-up of his Time magazine cover, suggesting that he wasn't as well known of a public figure as he would soon be (there's a difference between being known within an industry and to the public in general). And even then he quipped about the cover "I think I look like an Arab," sort of implying that he wouldn't blame Don for not recognizing him even if they had met after it was released.
@@ndantona92bad comparison
This scene is definitely a top ten scene of season 1
Elizabeth Moss smells.
this goes to show always be friendly and sociable cuz you never know who can be a potential opportunity in business.
“I don’t like you like this” can someone explain this to me? After all these years I’m still confused by it
I think, like other commenters, that Pete doesn’t like this outgoing, carefree Peggy. He likes the Peggy that is submissive and timid. He is selfish and egotistical. He said that because he knew it would hurt her and put her “back into her place” so to speak.
I remember this scene. He's both jealous in a possesive way because others are sharing a good time with her plus envious of her.
I love that the song continues to play when the credits roll! If you pay $250,000 to have the song, then you’d better play as much of it as possible and get your money’s worth!
Pete is a fool!
If he played the side from the beginning he would have heard "Good Day Sunshine"...probably would have liked that better
😅😂
2 Things: 1) This is great...seeing how REAL men, spoke to one another. In those days. Weakness was NOT considered a virtue. Straight drinking...straight talking. And you looked each other in the eye when doing both. 2) The guy who plays Conrad Hilton...was PERFECTLY cast.
Try living a bit before getting nostalgic about a past one watches on television shows.
@@VanderlyndenJengoldgo bother someone else there buddy.
@@VanderlyndenJengoldAre you in favor of safe spaces?
"Straight drinking" as they drink a sugary, watered down old fashioned. You're not as hard as you think you are.
Wtf are you on about. Weakness is not considered a virtue today anymore than it was then. Stop watching fox news and taking Mad Men for face value and live in reality for one day. Also, anyone afraid of vulnerability is weak by definition. Some boys never grow up.
My fav actress ever. I literally love her 😂
This scene looks like the typical encounter (cinematics) that you can have in red dead redemption 2 when there is a ? in the map
Its crazy seeing this peggy and the peggy at the end of the series, 2 completely different people
I get it, yk, from a pissed teen perspective, it’s like, how dare you be a fun loving girl, (possessive)
Get down! 💃
The most joyous scene in the entire series, and a clear foreshadowing of the fact that Pete and Trudy WILL wind up together, despite everything.
